2009 Program

scout-house-july-28-042Parade, concert and field show crowd favourites include many popular Scout House selections from the past including “The Waterloo Fanfare”, “The Colonel Bogey March”, “Waltzing Matilda” complete with a ringing Glockenspiel introduction, “Oklahoma”, “The Maple Leaf Forever”, “Wish Me Luck” and “The Wayward Wind”.  The latin-rhythm production number ”Brazil” (key in on the drumline) has been a featured piece as well in recent years.

For 2009, music director John Conrad has arranged for the Band a concert presentation which combines two outstanding Broadway show tunes. “There’s No Business Like Show Business” serves as a rousing introduction which is followed by the haunting, melodic strains of “Music of the Night” from Phantom of the Opera.

A new selection has been added to the 2009 Scout House field show repertoire.  the new piece is the intricate, syncopated number “One”, from the musical production – A Chorus Line.

A crowd-pleasing highlight at every Preston Scout House Alumni Band performance is a slick percussion solo that showcases the adept stick work and showmanship of the Band’s talented drumline – swinging tenor drummers included.

The traditional Welsh aire “Men of Harlech” has been part of the Band’s musical repertoire for years.  Years ago, a former Band member, the late Ken Whittington, ago authored the lyrics “Scout House on Parade” for “Harlech”. It is a stirring occasion when all Band members proudly sing this Band Song before a major performance.

The schedule for appearances will be posted and kept up to date on this website so visit again and see where we’re at so you can be where we’re to.

If your an event organizer in your community, why not have Scout House perform at your community festival, homecoming, parade, fair or exhibition. Stand still concerts, a parade and a full field show (need a football field) are all possibilities. Please phone our Activities Co-ordinator – Nancy Weiler (519) 653-3376 for availability and pricing.
