Join

There are alot of reasons to join.  The main one is  -  it’s good fun!

The Preston Scout House Alumni Band is the largest and most successful Alumni Band in Canada.  You’ll be part of a crowd-pleasing, well-appreciated corps.  We do drum corps right!

No prior experience?  It’s OK!  We will happily teach you.

If you happen to live in the Buffalo / Niagara region, you have a ride!  There is a guy in the Band who comes up from Warren PA (Jamestown NY) who is looking for a travel mate(s).  So if you have “the drum corps bug”, give Bruce a call (number below) and talk with us.

im_a0016Till mid-April, the Band practices music on Sunday afternoons (1 to 4 pm) at the Preston Knights of Columbus Hall, 333 Speedsville Road (north of Eagle St.), Cambridge.

Once the weather is suitable (May till end of August) the Field Show drill is the focus for the Band.  The practice site is the Cambridge Center Mall (Bay parking lot – Bishop St.) at the corner of Hespeler Road and Bishop. Most Thursdays at 6:30 pm.

All are welcome to come and watch – maybe join!.

We are looking to add new members to the Alumni Band’s Colour Guard.  For practice times and locations, call Ken Becker at (519) 741-9246.

We require horn players for all the voices  – from top soprano down to contra bass.

Playing experience is not necessary!

The band plays 3-valve instruments, so any prior experience with concert or other band horns (trumpet, trombone, french/english horn, tuba) will equip you well to perform in the Band.

If you are interested in playing a horn in the Band, we will teach you.  In either case, some prior him_a0091orn experience or not, please drop by on upcoming practice and give us a look/see, or better still, President, Bruce Witmer (519) 756-0245 or Activities Coordinator Nancy Weiler (519) 653-3376 for more information. Bring a friend!

In our percussion section we are looking to add people at all places  -  bass, snare, tenor, ”swinging” tenor drummers, bass, and cymbal players.  We also have openings for glockenspiel players. Again, please contact our President, Bruce Witmer (519) 756-0245 or Nancy Weiler our Activities Co-ordinator (519) 653-3376 for more information.
